WHY IS LIFE SO UNEXPECTED?

OK. Many of us find this question very amusing because we always focus on the bad or unexpected things that happen in our life. Suppose you set an alarm to wake up at 7 am in the morning only to find out that you woke up at 7:30 am in the morning. What happens next, you spend the next 5–10 mins cribbing about the fact that cannot be controlled by you like blaming the alarm to not be loud enough to wake you up or reasons like inadequate sleep because you had to stay up till 1 or 2 am in the night because of your younger brother or sister or some other stupid reason but have you ever tried blaming yourself for not waking up early in the morning and instead of crying over the spilled milk just accept the fact that you woke up late in the morning and thank God for keeping you alive to witness the nature around you ,to be around your loved ones and to pursue your dreams and later promise yourself to wake up early the next day and try and to make the most of whatever time is left with you. The very common example of unexpectedness happening in our life.

Now imagine if all the expected things start happening in your life, wont you start taking life for granted? The first that you expect after going to the college is meeting your friends, now suppose you reach the college only to realize that none of your friends have come to the college. That’s when you miss your friends the most and you realize their worth more than ever. That’s true about life too, if all the things that you expected happened in life you would start seeing life as a Bollywood love story wherein it was always known that at the end the actress would end up getting married to her lover and that’s the reason why we sometimes get bored while watching those kinds of movies.

Just like without the turning point in the movie the movie becomes boring, same way we need ups and downs in our life to keep us going. Even a straight line on an ECG means a person is dead. Life is not always bed of roses. Its only when you face the worst situation you would realize your worth and that’s when you start putting your abilities to test. You realize your capability to handle all the obstacles that come in your path. After having faced all the obstacles, that sense of achievement and pride on emerging out as a winner is way more satisfying than just winning without facing any obstacles.

You know what, when you feel like giving up in life there is this tiny voice in your mind that keeps saying to you Get up and win the race even when the society asks you to Quit. Its up to you to decide whether to listen to your inner voice or whether to give up due to external factors.

Life is very unexpected, sometimes you expect bad things to happen but instead something good happens like you expect to fail in a test and then when you received the test papers you realize that you passed the test. Sometimes you expect good things to happen but instead bad things start happening like after your exams you decide to go on a long vacation with your family but then your teacher tells you that you have to undergo a month long training in your vacations only then we would get our marksheets these are very common problems but what matters is our vision our perspective towards seeing these problems. Now going on a long vacation is even possible after you are done with your training but if you set your mindset in such a way that it is not able to cope up with the unexpected things ,then you would never ever be able to able to be happy , because the only thing you would want in your life is something that you have dreamt of.

So just stop questioning every unexpected thing that happens in your life and instead enjoy life the way it is and learn to look at the positive side of everything that happens to you, since every problem either comes to break or make you. The moment you start having a positive perspective towards everything in life that’s when you would be able turn all those lemons thrown at you into lemonade!!

P.S. Wrote this in 2016, when I was 18 years old and honestly still till date go to this 18 year old me for advice when I feel overwhelmed
